Dress Code

At Heartbeat Dance, we strive for our dancers to feel a part of a community while given a consistent and positive training experience. A dress code allows our dancers to not only align themselves with the HBD culture, but also enables our teachers to fully see the movement of their body and provide proper feedback and instruction. There are four (4) important parts of the HBD Dress Code.

Clothing: Proper dance clothing for ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary include leotard, tights, leggings, dance shorts, skirt, crop or tank top. Skirts/tutus may not be worn in acro.

Shoes: Proper dance shoes correspond with the style of class. Ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop require shoes specific to each class. See our complete dress code for specific styles required.

Hair: Hair MUST be pulled away from your dancer’s face in a braid, bun, or tight ponytail. Short hair must be pulled away from face in a headband, clip, or ponytail.

Dance Bag: A small dance bag that includes: a refillable water bottle, all appropriate shoes for class, extra hair ties, clips, and hair brush. Please DO NOT send toys, gadgets, or stuffed animals with your dancer.
